Making Jesus Christ Your Home - A Profile Study

The Person at the Centre of Everything

If someone asked you to summarise the entire Bible in one name, there is only one answer.

Jesus.

The Bible is not primarily a collection of moral lessons, inspirational stories or religious rules. It is God's unfolding story of redemption, and every page ultimately points to Jesus Christ.

Before the world began, God already had a plan. Before Adam and Eve sinned, before Abraham was called, before Moses led Israel, before David became king, God had prepared the Lamb who would take away the sin of the world.

Jesus is not simply an important character in Scripture.

He is the centre of Scripture.

Who Is Jesus?

Jesus is fully God and fully man. He did not become God after His resurrection. He has always been God.

John opens his Gospel with these remarkable words:

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." (John 1:1)

Jesus entered history through His miraculous birth, lived a perfectly sinless life, fulfilled every prophecy concerning the Messiah, willingly died on the cross, rose victoriously from the grave, ascended to heaven, and today reigns as King of kings and Lord of lords.

He is:

- Creator

- Saviour

- Shepherd

- Redeemer

- Teacher

- Friend

- High Priest

- Bridegroom

- King

- Judge

- The Alpha and Omega

Everything about God's character is perfectly revealed in Christ.

"Whoever has seen Me has seen the Father." (John 14:9)

The Life of Jesus

Jesus spent approximately thirty-three years on earth.

The Gospels reveal a life marked by extraordinary simplicity and complete obedience.

He was born in humility.

He grew quietly.

He worked with His hands.

He loved ordinary people.

He welcomed children.

He touched lepers.

He ate with sinners.

He defended the broken.

He challenged religious pride.

He withdrew often to pray.

He depended completely upon His Father.

Although crowds followed Him, Jesus never chased popularity.

Although people wanted miracles, He came to bring salvation.

Although many expected a political king, He came first as the suffering Servant.

Every decision He made reflected one purpose:

To glorify His Father.

Why Did Jesus Come?

Jesus Himself answered that question.

"I have come..."

- to seek and save the lost.

- to give His life as a ransom for many.

- to destroy the works of the devil.

- to reveal the Father.

- to bring abundant life.

- to call sinners to repentance.

- to establish God's Kingdom.

- to reconcile humanity with God.

The cross was never God's backup plan. It was always His plan.

At Calvary, Jesus carried our sin, shame, guilt and punishment.

He took what we deserved so that we could receive what we never could earn—grace.

His resurrection declared that sin had been defeated, death had been conquered and eternal life was now available to all who believe.

Why Is Jesus So Important?

Many people admire Jesus. Many study His teachings. Some even appreciate His moral example. But Christianity is not about admiring Jesus from a distance.

It is about belonging to Him.

Without Jesus there is:

- no forgiveness

- no salvation

- no reconciliation

- no eternal life

- no true peace

- no lasting hope

He is not one path among many.

He is the Way.

"I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." (John 14:6)

Make Him Your Home

At Ivytree Studio we often say:

"Make God's Word Your Home."

Why?

Because God's Word always leads us to Jesus.

The goal of Bible journaling is never simply to fill notebooks with beautiful pages.

The goal is not artistic skill.

The goal is not collecting Bible knowledge.

The goal is not becoming known as a creative Christian woman.

Our goal is intimacy with Christ.

A home is where you remain.

Where you return.

Where you belong.

Jesus invites us to remain in Him every day.

To build our lives around His presence.

To learn His voice.

To trust His promises.

To obey His Word.

To become more like Him.

When Jesus becomes our home, everything else finds its proper place.

Our Greatest Calling

Every believer has many responsibilities.

Some teach.

Some encourage.

Some create.

Some lead.

Some serve quietly behind the scenes.

But beneath every calling is one greater calling:

To know Christ and make Him known.

Our lives are not meant to point people toward ourselves.

Not toward our ministries.

Not toward our businesses.

Not toward our artwork.

Not toward our accomplishments.

Everything we create should quietly whisper:

"Look at Jesus."

If people remember our name but forget His, we have missed the purpose. If they admire our creativity but never encounter Christ, we have aimed too low.

John the Baptist understood this beautifully:

"He must increase, but I must decrease." (John 3:30)

That is the heartbeat of every faithful disciple.

A Gentle Invitation

Whether you are opening your Bible, painting a journal page, serving your family, leading a ministry or quietly praying in your kitchen, remember this:

Jesus is not asking you to build your own kingdom.

He is inviting you into His.

Your worth is not measured by productivity.

Your identity is not found in your platform.

Your hope is not rooted in circumstances.

Your home is Christ.

Abide in Him.

Walk with Him.

Love Him.

Trust Him.

Point others to Him.

Because in the end, every page of our story is meant to reflect the beauty of the One who first loved us.

1. Is Jesus truly the centre of my daily life, or has something else taken His place?

2. What does it practically look like for me to abide in Christ this week?

3. Does my creativity point people toward me—or toward Jesus?

4. Where am I trying to build my own kingdom instead of participating in His?

5. What is one simple way I can help someone see Jesus this week?

Gracelilly Prayer

Lord Jesus,

Thank You for being the centre of history, the centre of Scripture and the centre of my life. Forgive me for the times I have allowed other pursuits, ambitions or distractions to take Your rightful place. Teach me to abide in You each day, to treasure Your Word, and to delight in Your presence above everything else.

May my thoughts, my words, my creativity and my service always point people toward You. Let my life quietly declare that You are faithful, holy, gracious and worthy of all praise.

Help me to decrease so that You may increase. Build Your Kingdom through my ordinary, everyday faithfulness, and make my heart a place where You are always at home.
