The Ivytree Studio Story – Part 1: Where It All Began

Welcome to the beginning of a story that has taken years to unfold.

If you’ve ever wondered how Ivytree Studio came to be, this is where it truly starts — not with a business plan, but with a calling, a season of growth, and a God who faithfully prepares us long before we see the full picture.

This story is for every Highly Sensitive, Creative Christian woman who has ever felt the tension between where she is and where she senses God is leading her.

Let me take you back to the beginning…

I was a teacher at a special needs school just after graduating from university. I didn’t know if I would be able to get a job in my city, close to home. God provided.

The first six years were a mixture of so many different experiences. There was joy and creativity, deep relationship building, and moments that truly felt meaningful and aligned with who I am at heart.

But there was also pain.
Heartbreak.
And seasons of real emotional and physical strain.

It wasn’t an easy road.

Yet, through all the ups and downs, one thing remained constant — God was faithful. He carried me through every high and every low, shaping not only my skill as a teacher but also my heart.

It was in this season that something foundational was established in me:
a deep love for teaching, especially in spaces where care, patience, and creativity were needed most.

I didn’t know it then, but this was more than just a job. My heart for teaching in a special setting was established.

It was preparation.

Looking back, I can now see how God uses even the most ordinary seasons to build something extraordinary.

What felt like “just a job” was actually a training ground — not only for teaching, but for understanding people, emotions, creativity, and purpose.

Sometimes we don’t recognise the significance of a season until much later.

But God never wastes a season.

This was only the beginning…
