Sometimes God stretches us beyond the borders of what feels safe and familiar.
Not to harm us…
but to GROW us.
There are seasons in life where we step into opportunities believing we know exactly what lies ahead, only to discover that God is teaching us something far deeper than we expected.
This has been one of those seasons for me.
After my early teaching years, an opportunity opened for me to travel to the United Kingdom and teach there for a while. At the time, it felt like a meaningful adventure — an opportunity to see more of the world, gain experience, and step into something new. So I went. Travelling alone was a big step for me, especially as a highly sensitive and creative person who values familiarity, connection, and emotional safety. I thought I knew what the season would look like. But life unfolded differently.
The experience ended up being far shorter than I expected, and I returned home sooner than planned. At the time, it felt disappointing in many ways, but looking back now, I can clearly see how much God taught me through that short season. I learned that God truly goes with us wherever He calls us.
Even in uncertainty.
Even in unfamiliar places.
Even when outcomes do not unfold the way we hoped.
That season stretched my trust in the Lord deeply.
I learned to lean into Him more intentionally when life felt unstable and uncertain. I learned that obedience is not always about comfort or success as the world defines it, but about allowing God to shape your heart through the journey itself.
Travelling and living abroad also changed the way I viewed the world. It gave me perspective and helped me realise how dependent I truly am on God’s guidance and faithfulness.
Most importantly, I learned this:
God knows how to lead us home.
Sometimes we think a season was “short-lived” or unsuccessful because it did not unfold according to our expectations.
But God measures things differently.
What feels brief to us may still carry eternal lessons and deep personal growth.
That season taught me not to place my confidence in plans, locations, outcomes or people — but in the God who faithfully leads us through every unfamiliar place.
And even now, years later, that lesson still anchors me.
The next chapter of this story became even more challenging.
👉 I’ll share about a season where I stepped into what looked like a promising opportunity… only to discover the painful difference between opportunity and discernment.
Thank you for walking this journey with me.
